The Mets kickoff a week long homestand against the Florida Marlins this evening at 7:05pm after coming off a piss poor 1-6 Road Trip against the Braves and Rockies. There has been plenty of speculation this week that Willie’s job would be in total jeopardy if the team didn’t have a strong road trip this past week. Given the results Willie and Omar are slated to meet with Fred and Jeff Wilpon this afternoon prior to this evening’s game. Thoughts among people relatively close to the situation are that the Wilpons are simply going to focus on Willie’s negative comments that were all over the press this past week in regards to racism. I’m pretty sure they will talk about the state of the team and what Willie needs to do in order to keep his job, but this will all happen behind closed doors and I’m sure all we can do is speculate as to what was said. All The Real Mets Ham knows is that the Mets need to hook line and sinker those Marlins this week and wake the bats up. This is truly unacceptable play for a team with a $140 million dollar payroll. The Real Mets Ham will also be in attendance tonight sitting in the first row on the first baseline so Aaron Heilman if you are reading this…..BEWARE!!!
