When he said 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. I was completely disappointed in the Mets yesterday. To let an unproven rookie named Jordan Zimmerman mow you down and make you look like a complete imbecile (David Wright I’m looking in your direction), is a disgrace to the fans that spend their hard earned money to watch a game. Oliver Perez, let me tell you this much…you were overpaid this offseason, you don’t deserve a tenth of what you are making and you have no control over your emotions…go seek some therapy. I really hope they demote you because you’ve been erratic and unwilling to change your ways with the guidance of Mr. Warthen. Yeah you’re laughing to the bank, but who’s gonna be waiting by your bus at the end of Saturday’s game in Philly if the Mets brass decides to keep you in the rotation… THE REAL METS HAM WILL BE THERE WAITING FOR OLLIE WITH A RAZOR…no not Shines…. IM GONNA CUT THOSE CATEPILLAR BROWS RIGHT OFF YA FACE..

Let’s see how we handle the fins in Round 2 tonite…

MLB Dugout Heroes = An Online Hit

A brand new online baseball game has hit the net, and best part is…ITS FREE!! This amazing new game called MB Dugout Heroes has been growing since it’s release a couple of months ago. All you have to do to startup a team of your own is visit http://mlbdugoutheroes.gamescampus.com and Sign Up. Once you download the game you have the option to pick any AL or NL team and take them up the ranks as you play against other teams across the country. You can even play your friends, purchase player cards, buy items for your players and earn NUTS!!! What are NUTS? NUTS are in game currency which is used to purchase player cards, equipment and special items such as Pinetar or Potions.

From a gameplay perspective the graphics are amazing for a free online game. The pitching/hitting aspects of the game are very realistic. You have the option to play 3, 5, 7 or 9 inning games. You can also choose whether or not you’d like to play extra innings. As of right now there are only 3 ballparks availabe to play (SAFECO FIELD, FENWAY and AT&T PARK). Yankees Stadium and Wrigley Field are currently being developed and hopefully soon you will be able to play any field you wish. In online mode you take your team through 50 game seasons. Players retire after 10 seasons, which means you need to purchase new players along the way to ensure a full roster once you hit season 11, 12, 13 and beyond. The forums are a great place to learn how to play the game as other players lend a hand and help you with their strategy guides and tips. The developers of the game are very friendly and open to a suggestions the users give them in order to make the game as user friendly as possible.

If you love baseball games and are looking for some fun I suggest you check out MLB Dugout Heroes ASAP and try to bring your team to the highest ranking possible.

For Mets fans out there I am sorry to say there is no Sheffield on the roster, but try your luck at nabbing him in the Draft Cards and the soon to be released Trade Mode.

What a Mess

THANK GOD WE PAY THE NATS THIS WEEKEND…. Not that I’m overly confident we can sweep them given our piss poor 6-9 start, but I think they’re a pushover compared to the Cardinals who pretty much kicked us in the Pujols(Poo Holes)… Tonight we have Johan Santana on the mound who has been brilliant this season while only surrendering 1 run in 19 2/3 innings. He will be facing former Florida Marlin Scott Olsen(0-2, 9.00) Santana went 3-0 with a 2.57 ERA in three starts against the Nationals (3-11) last season while Olsen holds a 5.52 ERA in eight starts against the Mets since posting his only win against them April 30, 2007.

I’m confident we will take tonight’s matchup, but I think the rest of the weekend will be a true test of where we stand as a franchise. We can enter next week a .500 ballclub or we can stay in good company with the Nats while entering a tough couple of weeks against the Marlins, Phillies, Braves and Phillies again. This is the time for the starting rotation to pick things up. Spring Training is long over and it’s time to put on our game faces for the rest of the season.

Bring on the Fins

Well the Metsies not so convincingly took 2 of 3 from the Reds to start off the 2009 campaign. Pelfrey, Ollie P and KROD managed to put a scare in Mets Hams all around, but being this is the beginning of the season we’ll cut them some slack and look to take a series from the Florida Marlins tonight in beautiful Miami, FL. On the mound for the Mets will be Johnny Maine against Anibel “Dirty” Sanchez. Luckily for the Mets we get to face Sanchez as opposed to Volstad. We will however be forced to battle Nolasco and Johnson over the Easter weekend. With 1 of 3 starting pitchers doing his job well lets hope John Maine and Livan Hernandez can dismantle the trend of these early season starting pitching woes. Man I can go for some Shake Shack right now…Enjoy the game tonight

Game 2: Mets & Reds

After an interesting day where the Marlins completed a very convincing 3 game sweep of the Nats and the Phillies escaped being swept by the Braves by the skin of their teeth we now move on to game 2 of the Mets and Reds series. Mike Pelfrey will take the mound against Edison Volquez. Edison has nasty stuff and the Mets bats better wake the hell up after Monday’s piss poor performance. It’s funny how Church and Murphy led the offensive attack in the opener given all the media surrounding them and their soon to be reduced playing time with the arrival of Shef. I am a big fan of both players and I was happy to see them rise to the occasion like a fresh loaf of Irish soda bread. From what I read this morning in AM NY, Mike Pelfrey likes to pitch in the cold and is looking forward to striking out as many batters as possible with his finishing sinker pitch. I think its going to be a good game just like Monday’s but the Mets really need to take one of the next 2 or sweep the Reds because they’ll be facing a tough Marlins squad over the weekend filled with players that have thrived during their first series (Han Ram, You Uggla, Tickles Bonifacio, Maybin “It’s Maybalene”, and No Cantu). I’m also surprised to see the fins going with a 4 man rotation to start the season as Ricky Nolasco their ace will be facing Livan Hernandez for Saturday’s game. I love the Marlins staff and I think they have the strongest in the NL with the Nolasco, Johnson, Volstad trio although I’m not completely sold on Anibal Sanchez who I think the Mets will clobber on Friday. Enjoy the game tonight and as always LETS GO FUGGIN METS!!!!!

GAME ON!!

Johan Santana vs. Aaron Harang

It’s raining right now in Cincy but the game will go on. Temperature should be in the 30s and the rain is predicted to continue the rest of today and into tomorrow therefore I think the team officials figured postponing til tomorrow would yield similar weather conditions.

Mets lineup is as follows: 1. Reyes(SS), 2. Murphy(LF), 3. Wright(3B), 4. Delgado(1B), 5. Beltran(CF), 6. Church(RF), 7. Schneider(C), 8. Castillo(2B), 9. Santana(P)

Reds lineup is as follows: 1.Hairston Jr.(LF), 2. McDonald(CF), 3. Votto(1B), 4. Phillips (2B), 5. Bruce(RF), 6. Encarnacion(3B), 7. Hernandez(C), 8. Gonzalez(SS), 9. Harang(P)

I’ll post here throughout the game with my thoughts. Feel free to post in the comments section and vent any frustrations this young season may bare.

Daniel Murphy providing the offense with a HR and RBI groundout… Santana is pitching well but I figure this upcoming 6th inning will be his last. It’ll be interesting to see who Jerry goes to in the 7th. I must say I’m a little disappointed with the bats today. Yeah we’ve got 8 hits through 6 innings but I expect more from this lineup. Castillo with a double was quite surprising. Don’t know why the hell they sent Wright to home before. Dumb move. LETS GO METS!!

Damn Santana gets in a lil trouble and we allow a Reds run… as of now its 2-1 Mets going into the bottom of the 7th. Sean Green is back on the mound after retiring the one batter he faced in the 6th. I hope he shuts em down because then its Putz-KROD time.

Green sends em down 1-2-3….I can get used to this, however the Mets go down 1-2-3 in the 8th. I was hoping for Shefield’s Mets debut but we get Marlon Anderson. I can’t stand Marlon he will definitely be stab bait this week. 8 hits in 8 innings is unacceptable. JJ Putz hyme!! Hopefully Putz can get out of this jam with Dickerson(the tying run) on 1st with 1 out in the 8th.

9th inning 2-1 Mets… Murphy struck out, Wright walked and got picked off (2nd boneheaded play by Wright on the bases today), Delgado pops out…. bottom 9th and KROD is gonna come in for what can be his 1st save of the season as a Met. Hopefully I don’t jinx this.

BIG WIN!!!! KROD looks great in his first save conversion. I liked the bullpen today. Offense needs to step it up on Wednesday as the teams are off tomorrow. Wednesday will be Pelfrey vs. Volquez.

Like Being Lowe

Last night’s MLB opener was bittersweet as the Phillies lost, but Atlanta’s Derek Lowe pitched 8 scoreless innings of 2 hit baseball.

While I love seeing the Phillies lose I was super soaker pissed to see Lowe pitch this well especially against the Phillies. The Mets shelled out a 36 million 3 year contract for Oliver Perez (12 mil a year) while the Braves shelled out a 60 million 4 year contract for Derek Lowe (15 mil a year). I think for 3 mil more a year I’d rather have Derek Lowe. Perez was erratic in the WBC for Mexico as well as in Spring Training for the Mets. I was listening to the Shnooze on the FAN last week and he said it best…”You might as well flip a coin whenever Oliver Perez is on the mound”. Basically with Ollie you have no consistency… He’s either the most dominant guy on the field or a boofest for the fans. I’m hoping Dan Warthen can change this somehow, but my gut feeling is that we’ve got the same ol’ Ollie eyebrows this season…. Maybe he just needs to shave those catepillar brows to gain some consistency. Either way we’ll see later this week what kind of Perez shows up to play.

Opening Day 2009?

Well the day we’ve been anxiously awaiting has finally arrived and I am sofa king pumped for it!! Only possible issue is the midwest weather. Already the White Sox vs. Royals and the Rays vs. Red Sox games have been postponed. Eddie Coleman from Cincy called into Roberts and Beningo this morning as I’m typing this saying hard rain is going to fall, it’s supposed to get colder and there might be snow flurries. The players think that they’re going to play, but at this point its still TBD. Right now it’s about 41 degrees there. According to Eddie, if they haven’t called it yet they may be willing to push the start time back a little bit. There is also the option of moving the game to tomorrow’s off day. Although I am very antsy for this game I think pushing it til tomorrow may be the better option. You don’t wanna run the risk of starting Santana and pulling him in the 4th because of a rain delay. It’s a stick situation which we’ll have to monitor throughout the morning in the early afternoon. Keep checking Real Mets Ham, Mets Blog and WFAN for updates.

OL SHEFFY

According to Newsday Gary Sheffield is going to be a Met and will only cost the league minimum 400k. I love this news. Always been a huge fan of Doc’s cuz. It definitely concerns me that Detroit just dropped him like they did but Sheffield wasn’t happy there and I know he loves NY. I think he will be a nice little addition to the clubhouse this season and I look forward to seeing him belt HR #500 in CitiField.

Citi Field

Yea we’ve all seen hundreds of pics and read countless reviews on the field but the Real Mets Ham will say this… Last night while waiting in the pouring rain for my lady to pick me up from the Willets Point Subway Station to head to a gathering in Flushing, I decided to walk to that glorious looking stadium and get my first in person glimpse of the palace. Let me tell you that while the pictures are great and writeups give a good insight on the stadium, there is absolutely nothing like being there in person to see it for yourself. I walked up to the Jackie Robinson Rotunda(how funny is the word rotunda?) and a helpful security guard (who was also a yankees fan!!) told me I couldn’t enter the stadium but he chatted with me for a good 10 minutes about the many featues the new stadium has and also pointed out the locations of the new Mets teamstore and luxury boxes that the Wilpons will be utilizing. I havent stepped foot in the mecca yet but let me tell you I can’t even begin to express how excited I am to enjoy many an experience at this ballpark. It’s classy and it’s definitely something the city of NY should be proud of. Obviously for most people like myself and especially in this economy it’s going to be tough to afford great seats to a game but I’d recommend taking a tour of the stadium or buying cheap seats(I’ve already done so) just to experience the park and get away from it all. There is so much to do at the stadium that you could probably spend the whole time there walking around without even hitting your seat to watch the game. I hope all of you enjoy this beautiful place and cherish it like I will.
